How to remove Kool-Aid, other colored beverages, candy, and other food dye

Procedure:
1. Clean stained spot thoroughly, using hot water extraction rinse to remove any substance. Leave carpet as dry as possible by making multiple drying (vacuum only) passes with your wand and blot dry with towel.
2. Mix Pro's Choice Red Relief according to directions on bottle.
3. Wet stained fibers with solution using a trigger sprayer.
4. Place a damp towel over the treated area. This towel should be a lightweight terry cloth such as an auto-polishing towel. The towel should be only damp (not wet). Wring your towel out as dry as you can. You may find a completely dry towel will work best. If you have a good steam source such as an Iron with 30 plus steam vents.
5. Place a steam iron onto the towel.

IMPORTANT:
There are some issues here that have a significant impact on the success of your stain removal procedure.
A. The heat setting of the iron should be sufficient to generate a gentle steaming of the carpet for a period of 1 to 3 minutes without damaging the carpet. You will normally find this to be the lowest steam setting (usually near Silk/Polyester).
B. The time that the iron should be allowed to remain on the stain will vary with the severity of the stain, the thickness and moisture content of the towel, and the temperature setting of the iron. Generally 1 to 3 minutes is appropriate. Insufficient dwell time will result in incomplete removal of the stain. Excessive dwell time can result in damage to the carpet. Monitor the process and be observant. You will soon learn the combination of heat and dwell time for optimum results.
Step 6. Now remove the iron and towel. The stain should appear yellow. Thoroughly rinse and dry the spot using hot water extraction to remove the stain. This should be done immediately following the heat application step.
If the stain is not completely removed on the first application, you may repeat steps 1 through 6.

TIPS
Usually incomplete stain removal is the result of insufficient heating time (high temperature is not necessary but dwell time is important).
Pro's Choice Red Relief will continue to work on stains, which have penetrated dye sites even after you have rinsed the carpet clean. Because of this you will find that if the slightest tinge of red remains following your treatment, it will disappear overnight.
The type of iron you use is IMPORTANT, here's why... Conventional irons can work against you because of uneven heat/steam application to the carpet. The Iron that will serve you best is an iron which has steam vents covering the ironing surface rather than one with a single row of vents around the perimeter of the ironing surface.
